Singing In The Rain!

Drizzly day three. Didn’t think it would take long before eager fans were sheltering under trees and ledges, peeping out at pixelated players on the big screen. But it all adds to the Sheffield spirit and a bit of rain never hurt anybody.

The play was anything but dismal however. What a demon that Mark Allen is? Very impressive - and fresh too since this is only his second season. Definitely one to watch. Check him out this morning.

And fellow rookie Judd Trump put in a sterling effort against nice guy Shaun.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty more of the teenage sensation in the future. It’s great these young chaps are doing so well, a welcome boost to the game and its image.

Sorry that snooker’s funny man Joe Delaney is no more, he’s a fave with the fans. As is another of Sunday’s casualties, Mr Bond. Maybe his popularity has something to do with seeing Hendry off in the first round of last year’s tournament, beating him 10-9 on a re-spotted black. Everyone loves an underdog.

The Scottish stalwart takes the stage today. Hendry, seven-times champion, certainly seems hungrier than ever to break his own record and told the BBC it would be his greatest achievement ever to lift that trophy again. Having been world number one for 8 years in the 1990s, the 37-year-old doesn’t seem too bothered about that particular accolade. It’s all about the cup.

His regime has been very strict preparing for his 22nd Crucible appearance - apparently practicing five hours a day with nowt but a cue and an ipod.

Speaking of which, anyone for a song? I reckon we need a new anthem to go round endlessly in people’s heads at the most inappropriate and annoying times…

Those two cockney scamps I’m sure would be happy to oblige – but what about Lemar? Rumour has it he is a massive snooker fan and would love to compose a new ditty for the likes of Hendry, Ebdon, Parrot and Ding to perform.
The video would be awesome.

After three days, Ding is a leading contender for the Gabi’s Gossip Good Sportsmanship Award. The Chinese superstar was more than happy to sign autographs and pose for endless photos with fans yesterday after his 10-2 defeat to Ronnie. Well done Ding.

He could have just mooched off, blaming his opponent for his poor performance like other early evictees have done. Careful fellas, who said we didn’t have a Bad Sportsmanship Award?

Know of any serious contenders for this? Get in touch!

That’s all for now but stop by tomorrow for a Gabi’s Gossip exclusive…
