Newsflash - Mann, This Kid Can Play!
Cuefactor black band Mitchell Mann became 2007 Junior Pot Black Champion yesterday with a comfortable victory over fellow 15-year-old Jack Lisowski. The talented young English players fought it out during a one-frame clash in snooker’s famous arena.
Mitchell showed impressive form, sinking reds and colours consistently. Fighter Jack must be commended for his spirit, returning to the table needing snookers.
But Mitchell got back in and a couple of colours later, received the conceding handshake he deserved.
“To come here to the Crucible and win a tournament like pot black is just brilliant,” he told Cuefactor.
The English under 15s runner up hopes to reach the top 16 in the next few years.
“I am playing on the Pontins Tour next year,” he said. “I hope to qualify in the top 8 and from there work my way up through the ranks of the Main Tour.”
Mitchell shows much promise and has confidence in his future success. He fired out a 147 when he was just 14 and has played exhibition matches against Jimmy White, Peter Ebdon and Alex Higgins.
The Birmingham lad thinks he can take on just about anything – except being beaten by a girl! If current ladies champion Reanne Evans has her way, the next few years will see women progress ably on to the Main Tour.
Mitchell may have to face his fear sooner than he thinks
