Ding Ding Round 2…for Rocket
Ronnie O’Sullivan 10 – 2 Ding Junhui
Ronnie O’Sullivan took less than an hour of the second session to wrap up the match against Ding Junhui.
At 8-1 down, the 20-year-old Chinese hotshot had nothing to lose when play resumed.
He duly took the first frame of the session to give the millions watching in China something to cheer about.
The respite was brief though, and O’Sullivan rattled off the two frames he needed with breaks of 87 and 72. With nine breaks of over 50 in the twelve frames, the Rocket has been by far the most impressive of the players on show so far.
Ding will be back, but it is hard not to draw parallels with his 10-3 loss to O’Sullivan in January’s Masters final. He has not won a ranking match since then, and he will probably be looking forward to the end of season more than most.
