Ebbed ‘n Flowed
Peter Ebdon 4 – 4 Mark Selby
Peter Ebdon and Mark Selby shared the first session, which included a decent display of break building.
The first two frames were tense and scrappy, with the players taking one tight frame a piece. Selby might have taken both, but a missed yellow off its spot gave Ebdon an easy chance to level the match.
Selby quickly put the miss behind him, and raised the quality of the session. A break of 57 took the third, and he followed it with a 76 to go in at the halfway point 3-1 ahead.
Ebdon is a fighter, and the 2002 champion hit back. Consecutive breaks of 68, 62 and 60 wrestled control of the match towards the Dubai resident, who took the lead at 4-3.
Selby kept his game together to stay right in the match with a 57 in the eighth frame to finish the session at 4-4. It was the sixth frame in a row to have a break of over 50.
The remaining two sessions are played today, and the match could be heading for a nail-biting finish.
