O'Sullivan V Carter
An all-England final and what's more an all-Essex final!
Carter has exceeded all expectations, including those of his own in reaching his first world final, and for that matter first ranking final.
The last 15-days have been the cliched, rollercoaster for the likeable Carter. He looked down-and-out in the first round, he made a perfect 147 in the quarter-final and come through a war with Joe Perry.
What does he have left? That is one of the big questions. In some senses it doesnt matter, because whatever he has, might not be good enough. However, is this another sporting Cinderella story. It's been a while since The Crucible threw up a surprise winner!
Which leads us to O'Sullivan. The word genius is probably over-used genreally but not in his case. He has been superb from the first break-off. Eleven centuries at a rate of one every seven frames speasks for itself. He is averaging over 65 points per frame, including the ones he loses. Based on stats like that, we just cannot see any way that "The Rocket" will not lift this great trophy for the third time.
