Murphy v Carter
Two former World Snooker Young Players of Distinction have fully graduated into the game's elite.
2005 champion Murphy is looking more and more clinical every time he walks into the arena. He has become Mr. Consistent and reached the semi-final at least of each of the last five ranking events. The only thing missing this season is a ranking title (oh and a maximum), and we wouldn't put either past Shaun over the next week-and-a-half.
Carter, is always there or there abouts and seems to have the strong attacking game to do really well, although he has continued to come up short. Here last year, he looked like he might just take that next step towadrs greatness, but was found wanting in a decider with Mark Selby.
He could benefit from the relief of getting past Hawkins in the first round, but equally that could go against him.
In the end though, we think the outcome of this is very much in the hands of Murphy. He looks confident and classy if a bit sparkly, and should get past the line with a little to spare.
