Higgins V Day

A few years ago, these two played at The Crucible and Day had an easy pink to secure victory. He missed the pink, and with it threw away an early chance to make a real name for himself.

Since then, the Welshman has made steady progress up the rankings and reached a couple of major finals without landing his first title. He has seen his fellow Young Players of Distinction, Murphy and Maguire in the winners circel and is ready to join them.

What can you say about Higgins? The popular Scot has now won six consecutive matches at The Crucible without showing any signs of form anywhere else on the planet (apart from maybe the practice table at The Craig Park Masters Club in Glasgow).

It is hard to go against the defending champion, but only Hendry and Davis have won back-to-back titles here so something special is required to repeat that. A good win against Stevens in round one, but we reckon that Wales' number one will take revenge for his close friend in round two.
