Magical Masters Moments
Paul Hunter gave us so many Magical Masters Moments, that we couldnt pick one out above the rest, so we have chosen all three of his 10-9 final wins as the number one Masters Moments!
First, there was the infamous Plan "B", which helped him recover from a 6-2 defecit against surprise finalist, Fergal O'Brien. The Irishman had played superbly in the afternoon, and could have easily thought he was on course to add his name to the list of Masters Champs.
The evening was a different story though, as Hunter made century after century to reduce O'Brien's lead before winning a tight decider to lift his first Masters trophy.
Next was Welshman Mark Williams, who opened up a seemingly unassailable 5 - 0 lead. Unassailable wasn't a word Hunter seemed to understand as he levelled at 5-5 and then stayed with Williams before finishing in style taking the nineteenth frame for back-to-back Masters wins.
It wasn't to be a hat-trick of titles in 2003, but back he came in 2004, and faced The Rocket in a battle of "the hairbands". If their hairstyles were questioned by the media, the standard of snooker certainly wasn't. Hunter making five centruy breaks on his way to victory.
Hunter wasn't happy in a Masters final until he was at least five frames behind. He trailed O'Sullivan 6-1, 7-2 and 9-7 before reeling off three in a row to claim his third Masters crown.
The Masters will never be the same without Paul Hunter, but boy did he give us some Magical Moments!
