CLOWNS POCKET MODS & POTTERS TITLE

Over 150 snooker players took part in the second running of the Cuefactor Mods & Potters tournament at Pontin’s in Prestatyn.  The Clown Pockets defeated Mann 147 to take the title.

John Pritchett and Scott McGaw used their combined Cuefactor of 49 to good effect in winning six matches before beating the highly rated, Mitchell Mann and his partner, Roland Hall van Laere in the final.

The Mods & Potters event provides a fun climax to the Lt. Col. Walter Rowley Junior Festival, with Mums or Dads (Mods) or any adult not taking part in the festival partnering a junior competitor in a doubles event designed to get everyone involved in a ‘serious fun’ tournament.

Entries included professional players, world champions and total beginners with the Cuefactor handicap system being used to level the playing field giving everyone an equal chance of winning.

The Tractor Boys, named after Ipswich Town Football club, the favourite team of  world number 62, Paul Davies and his junior partner Jerry Connors made it through to the quarter-final before losing out to ‘Wammy’.

World Under-21 champion, Michael Georgiou was unable to make an impression with his partner Janie Watkins, as Globalsnooker lost in the first round to last year’s champions, Sospan Jack.

Kyran Wilson and his mum Sonya made it through four rounds before losing out to Mann 147 on the final black.

One generation of the Hendry family was making a big comeback at the Welsh Open in Newport, while another two joined forces as Hendry’s Hurricanes in North Wales.  Stephen’s dad, Gordon and his ten-year-old son, Blaine won a couple of matches before losing to the eventual winners.
