Dominic's Decade Drought

Dominic 'The Spaceman' Dale ended a ten-year title drought by lifting the first Roewe Shanghai Masters in China.

His ten frames to six win over fellow welshman, Ryan Day in the final, put the finishing touches on snooker's equivalent of a wire-to-wire win in golf, where a player leads in each round of a golf event and goes on to lift the trophy. Dale lead the way in qualifying when he beat Rory Mcleod, making two centuries and averaging a staggering 93 points per frame.

That form continued in the Far East with wins over wildcard Liu Chang, Ken Doherty, Adrian Gunnell, Dave Harold, world finalist Mark Selby and Day.

If that wasnt enough, Dale took the second frame of eight in a row against Day with a tournament record 143 break edging Ian McCulloch to the £2000 highest break prize.

Day had looked in command taking a 6 - 2 advantage making his fourth century of the event, but Dale took the last in the afternoon and never looked back in the evening.

The first all-welsh final since the 2000 world championship when Mark Williams beat Matthew Stevens provided an enthralling climax to a tournament worthy of it's season opening status.
