Frequently Asked Questions about cuefactor™

What is the purpose of cuefactor?

The purpose of the system has always been to attempt to level the playing field for snooker players of differing abilities, so that those players can compete equally.

Golf uses a recognised handicap system that is integral to the sport and in world-wide use.

With the handicap system, irrespective of your ability, you can play any other golfer on any course and be competitive. The handicap will enable you to play any player on any course at any time and be equally competitive. Cuefactor will allow snooker players to enjoy the same benefits.

For example, if a snooker player who makes century breaks regularly plays a player who has never made more than 20, we all know who's likely to win. But by using cuefactor, those players can play each other as if they are equal in ability.

Without a statistical handicapping system, it can't be done. At least not fairly!

With the cuefactor system, the weaker player is given points at the start of each frame. That is, the better player begins each frame with deficit to make up during a frame played using the normal rules.

Once armed with cuefactor, you are ready to play on an equal basis with any other player in the world.
