Pack
Two or more object balls, usually reds, that are touching or close together.
Pink ball
Worth six points. Its spot is at the apex of the triangle of the reds, between the black and blue spots.
Plant
A shot that involves the cue ball striking a ball on, which in turn makes contact and pots a second ball.
Pocket
The six openings in the table into which balls are potted.
Point
A unit of scoring, with fixed a number of points allocated to each ball.
Position
The location of the cue ball in relation to the object ball.
Positional play
The skill of moving the cue ball in order to be well placed on the next ball on, involving a knowledge of pace, angles and spins.
Pot
The successful attempt of getting the ball on into the pocket.
Potter
A player who focuses on potting balls rather than tactical, position or safety.
Potting angle
An imaginary line from the pocket to the centre of the object ball.
Push
Abbreviated term for push shot.
Push shot
An illegal shot, where the cue tip, cue ball and the 'ball on' are all in contact together during a shot.
