It's not often that snooker season 'kicks-off' before the footballers get underway, but this new event does just that. An early start to the season brought mixed responses from players, but no doubt they will all be keen to get their 07/08 campaign underway with a good performance
The first of two ranking events in China this season, returns high-class snooker to Shanghai. And with players like Tiang Pengfei, Yu Delu, Jin Long and Liu Song backing up Ding's recent successes, the appetitie for more is certainly in the Far East.
World Snooker announced Roewe as the title sponsor for the event.
Don't be surprised if there is a 'surprise' winner of this one. It's early for the big guns to be firing on all cylinders!
Look out for Ryan Day and Shaun Murphy in the top 16, who seem to play well overseas.
Of the qualifiers, Matthew Stevens, Dominic Dale and Michael Holt could be dangerous.
